Woolwich shooting: Boy, 14, shot dead in broad daylight London attack

A 14-year-old boy was shot dead on Thursday in south east London with three people arrested in connection to the attack, the Metropolitan Police has confirmed.

Initially, officers were unable to identify the victim at the time and the boy was at first referred to as an adult.


The police has now confirmed the victim was sadly a 14-year-old boy.

The fatal incident occurred in Woolwich in broad daylight, at roughly 3.40pm.

Despite the efforts of the emergency services, the child was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two boys, aged 14 and 16, and an 18-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the incident.

All three remain in custody.

Detective Chief Inspector Lucie Card, whose team is leading the investigation, said: “Our thoughts remain with the boy’s family and loved ones.

“We are aware of the concern that this incident will cause the local community. We have already made three arrests and our investigation continues at pace. An increased police presence remains in the area.

“I would appeal for anyone who was in the area at the time, who has CCTV or dash cam footage of the incident or has information that could help my officers to come forward.”
