Mr. Shirley goes to Washington

Today, it was YouTuber Nick Shirley’s turn in the witness chair at a Congressional hearing. This morning, the occasion was a hearing of the House Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Crime and Federal Government Surveillance. The hearing was captioned,

When Public Funds Are Abused: Addressing Fraud and the Theft of Taxpayer Dollars.

The hearing begins at 28:10,

Mr. Shirley first appears beginning at 1:07:02. He did a fine job.

Personally, I was most interested in the testimony offered by witness Scott Dexter, a former investigator at the state Dept. of Human Services (DHS). He appears at 56:42.

Dexter testified that he and group at DHS investigated criminal charges of fraud at Somali (and other) daycares in Minnesota. The Walz Administration shut down the investigation to avoid charges of “racism.” Dexter believes that the childcare fraud continues to this day.

Bonus: at the 1:17:30 mark, Rep. Tiffany (R-WI) gives a shout out to Power Line.

There were actually two hearings taking place simultaneously in the same room. Republican members of the subcommittee were digging into question of how to identify and stop welfare program fraud in Minnesota, without harming legitimate service providers.

Democrats spent their time talking about Donald Trump.

Speaking of Minnesota, your correspondent was featured on a podcast produced by The Spectator UK. Enjoy!
