Trump backs idea to change ICE’s name to ‘NICE’

(LifeSiteNews) — President Trump has given an enthusiastic two thumbs up to the idea of changing the name of ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) to “NICE” (National Immigration and Customs Enforcement).

“GREAT IDEA!!! DO IT. President DJT,” wrote Trump with multiple exclamation points and in all-caps in a Truth Social post, responding to the name-change idea first proposed in March by conservative influencer Alyssa Marie.

“I want Trump to change ICE to NICE (National Immigration and Customs Enforcement) so the media has to say NICE agents all day everyday,” stated Marie.

While the idea might have started as a humorous, tongue-in-cheek comment, with Trump’s post the idea has picked up steam within the conservative social media universe.

“100% agree! Make it happen,” wrote Nick Sortor on X, urging Secretary of Homeland Security Markwayne Mullin to support the change.

The White House amplified the notion, publishing its own meme on X.

“’National Immigration and Customs Enforcement.’ DO IT!” urged the official White House X post.

The graphic shows an ICE agent kneeling next to a child, bracketed by the words: “NICE AGENTS DEFENDING OUR COUNTRY.”

While the idea may seem to be outlandish if not impossible to achieve, the Trump administration has already changed the name of one cabinet-level department. In 2025, Secretary Pete Hegseth restored the name of the Department of Defense (DOD) to its original name, the Department of War (DOW).

Last year President Trump sparked backlash when board members voted to change the name of the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., to the “Trump-Kennedy Center.”
